Mixed Hen Eggs
We have a diverse range of chickens, including Araucana, Gold Laced Wyandotte, Australaup, Plymouth Rock, white leghorn, Copper Morans, barnevelder and Andalusions. For this reason, our eggs come in many shades, ranging from dark brown, down through light brown, cream, blue and white. We also have some eggs which have interesting speckles of all those colours.
Egg size varies, however we guarantee that each carton contains a minimum of 600g of eggs. You may have to weigh them to get the correct amount of egg for your recipes.
Regardless of the colour or size, the health and diet of our chickens is reflected in the yolk colour and taste of their eggs.
Our eggs are laid in roll away nesting boxes, which means the eggs roll to the back of the box, avoiding messes, being eaten, or dropped in the mud.
Our chickens are protected by electric net, and moved around, following the cows. They have fresh green pick, and a soaked grain mix to eat, as well as any passing bugs and worms. We use only natural health practices, including apple cider vinegar, dolomite and garlic for worms, and diatomaceous earth dust baths for external parasites.
Due to Queensland health regulations governing egg production, there are no roosters in our flocks, however our chickens are otherwise free to behave as chickens, and do what chickens like to do.
